Over A Bridge and Through the Woods
For the 4th of July, we headed to the Pocono Mountain area to try our hand at Yurt living. A yurt is circular structure that’s similar to a tent but in this case it had a wooden floor and windows.
The yurt was about a quarter of a mile into the woods on the owner’s property. We hauled our food and necessities along the grass path in a wheel barrel that was provided for us.
The weekend was relaxing – we cooked each other dinners and trekked through the river a ways. We sat by the fire, lounged in hammocks and played horseshoes.
The yurt was furnished with a full size bed, and a pull out couch. There was a small table, some chairs and a book shelf as well. The structure was set atop a raised deck which over looked the river directly in front of it. There was no electricity, no running water and an outhouse for your business. But, there was a fire pit and hammocks so we were content!

We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be going back. One of my favorite parts was reading through the guest book left in the Yurt. There were people from all over the world that have stayed here.
