Good Morning, Fall
Its been a time of major adjustments for me. I’m caught in a whirlwind of change, decisions and hopefully new potential. The days, and even last few weeks, have been a continuous tug of war between a bit too much of this and not enough of that, flowing right into a turbulent power struggle where in the end… only the definition of the this and the that have flip flopped, without restoring my sense of equilibrium. I want to focus my time and energy on positive things, while remaining connected to people and things that I love.
I spent much of my weekend juggling my time between different groups of people. It turned out to be a whole lot of fun and hardly any stress. These are my favorite kinds of weekends.
In between sharing my energies on friends from all different ages and social circles, I went on a fabulous tour of NC Wyeth’s studio with someone special (who I call Frog…). I was disappointed that I couldn’t take photos inside of the house or the studio. Despite not being a painter myself, I want his studio. It was inspiring and sad at the same time, because his life was cut short. His studio was bright and the height of the walls seemed to be symbolic of the magnitude of his ability and talent.
We decided to explore the sunflower fields just a few miles away….
As soon as the fields came into our view, the crowd that had formed was proof that were not the only ones intrigued by 22 acres of sunflowers.
It was a wonderful way to simply forget about everything else going on in the world and just marvel in the beauty of nature.
Its become increasingly clear to me that my tastes, and ultimately who I really am, is comprised of a wide variety of interests. I can easily meet new people, and spend the night laughing and giggling with them in a dingy “members only” bar. I can spend the day at an art museum, having conversations that range from contemplating ones purpose to hilariously vain and silly, only to go home and throw on my favorite party dress and spend the evening lightly catching up with old friends. When I wake, I find that all that’s on my mind is getting the dogs walked, fed and content so that we can be free to go and have some beers with our loudest football buddies. And this is only one weekend, and one set of plans. The vastness of what I truly enjoy and find intriguing is both overwhelming, and.. well.. brag worthy ( hmph ).
I know that the world is my canvas, and I need to find a way to decorate it…. If I could only pick the right medium to focus on!
Just a little something from my way to work this morning. It may be long, and many times the cause of a lot of annoyance, but on beautiful days like this I simply can’t complain. One of my favorite things in the world is the depth of the skies that only happens on the edge of summers goodbye, and falls awakening.
