Penn Roosevelt State Park

Sitting in camp site 7 in the middle of Penn Roosevelt State Park, my hammock sways with the smokey breeze and nothing but gnats and ash come my way.

The hollows of the trees hold the left over afternoon light as our cares melt away.

What sounds like a small stream is just the gentle ruslting of the branches above. The birds begin to chirp again as we allowed the quiet to settle in. It’s natures way of reminding you to slow down and settle in for a change.

The sun sets early in the woods with the trees acting as barriers from the suns warm rays.

The hike we took was exhausting and short. We hadn’t planned to do much hiking and it was a welcomed decision to turn back and settle in early.

Standing on the edge of our site, we watched the last of the sun setting as we warmed ourselves by the fire.

Penn Roosevelt’s campground has quickly become our favorite site/car camping location. Its less then a quarter mile from the car to our site but completely separate from the rest of the campground – private but convenient. There is a lot to be said for finding a “go-to” campground when we want to get away from it all. The sites are large enough for one to two tents, and have plenty of room to spread out and enjoy yourself. We certainly will time and time again.
